ABOUT

who is pack love?

IMG_3224_VSCO.JPG

My name is Hilary, dog mom to Lola and Bingley. If you're a new or seasoned dog parent looking for support especially with a reactive or sensitive dog, I'm so glad you've found me.

Over the years of having dogs I noticed a pattern of “bad” behavior, but always brushed it aside because “they were my kids, they were small, and they were just stubborn.” I tolerated it because I didn’t mind that much and I thought that’s just how it was…we loved each other and that’s all that mattered. Right?

Fast forward to adopting Lola, a bully mix. Lola has lived in a state of excitement (and stress) for years due to me not knowing any better. I always thought she was just a happy dog and would grow out of it. Instead, this mindset that I allowed her to live in and nurtured led to fear and reactivity as she got older. Not showing her how to be calm and neutral in different situations set her and her sensitive self up for failure - where she felt like she had to take the lead and advocate for herself when she was overwhelmed and over stimulated because I wasn’t doing it for her.

Having a reactive dog is stressful and embarrassing and obedience training wasn’t getting to the root of the issue. Our relationship was disconnected and we didn’t trust each other. I researched and started following different trainers to see who I resonated with. Dog psychology is what all the trainers I liked were ascribing to. Relationship-based training - building a foundation of trust, respect, and love. I’ve taken workshops, training sessions, joined groups, watched videos and read books all related to this type of lifestyle training. And I’m obsessed. Once you see it you can’t unsee it!I

After realizing how I could help Lola, seeing the changes we both made, watching her gain confidence, and adopting another dog (Bingley), I knew I wanted to help others feel empowered as well to be a confident dog guardian, learn how to communicate, and cultivate a better relationship with their dog.

APPROACH

Dog Psychology and Human Education

My goal is to help you grow your relationship with your dog by examining the root cause of issues, learn how to communicate with your dog, and be their guide in the world you've brought them into. Whether you have a reactive, excited, or sensitive dog, with support and the right knowledge I believe they (and you) can live a stress free life together full of freedom and integrate them into daily life. I want to teach you how to teach your dog!

"Cultivating Calm was a great way to focus on and reinforce calm behavior.  We learned and practiced several methods and utilized different tools.  Hilary provided numerous helpful videos that were great “how-to” examples.  I really enjoyed the long-line work and emphasis on structure at home. I definitely feel like the class has made for a much calmer home environment which was my primary goal."

"Hilary has been a leader of our Bully Breed Bunch community since we started Lead With Love University. She is the Captain of San Diego and has been everything this community needs and more. We appreciate her dedication to humans and dogs. She truly has become exactly what the dog community has needed for so long."

"My dog made friends with the dog of the girl I've been dating! It wouldn't have been possible without you. I walked the dogs side by side, then eventually they had some loose lead play time with each other. You have changed our lives. Thank you so very much!"
